The Jackbox Party Pack 9 - Review - Xbox

Nothing beats playing video games with others, and nothing beats playing them with a group of friends or family while you are all gathered around in one room together. I have a group of games pinned on my Xbox homepage, filled with fun games, mini games, party games and more for just such occasions when the family all come round and we need something to play. In this group are currently 7 of the previous Jackbox Party Pack games, so when I was sent a copy of the newest pack I was more than happy to take it for a spin! If for some reason you live under a rock and have never heard of The Jackbox Party Pack games then let me inform you. These are collections of mini games developed and published by Jackbox Games Inc. The games are built to be played with others either locally or online and they can be played by connecting a smart device or tablet to the game lobbies instead of using extra controllers. They are designed to be played in private parties and are especially great for streamers as upto 10,000 audience members can join in, watch and impact on the outcome of the games whilst you play.

The Jackbox Party Pack 9 includes 5 new games including: Fibbage 4: (2-8 players) - The hilarious bluffing party game returns with an all new Final Fibbage, video questions, fan-submitted questions, and Fibbage Enough About You mode! It’s a game so beloved that we decided to slap a 4 on it.

Quixort: (1-10 players) - In this trivia sorting factory, work with your team to sort falling answers into their proper order before they hit the floor! Or, play the single player mode and see how many blocks you can sort before topping out. It’s as easy as A, C, B!

Junktopia: (3-8 players) - A strange wizard has turned you into a frog! Create hilarious backstories for weird objects and then get them appraised. The player with the most valuable items becomes human again!

Nonsensory: (3-8 players) - Professor Nanners is here to test your NSP (Nonsensory Perception) in this drawing, writing, and guessing game! How close can you get to guessing where another player’s prompt ranks on the silliest of scales?

Roomerang: (4-9 players) - Channel your inner reality TV star in an attempt to come out on top! Respond to prompts, bring the competition and role-play to avoid being voted out. Never fear though, even when you’re out you’ll find yourself Roomerang-ed right back into the drama!

While personally I am not a fan of previous games in the series being added again and taking up one of the game slots on offer, but at least Fibbage 4 has enough improvements to feel like it warrants a spot.

I think the best game in the Jackbox Party Pack 9 is Fibbage 4. It's a classic game that's always a lot of fun to play, and the new version features some great new additions. Quixort is also a lot of fun, and it's a great game for people who enjoy trivia. Junktopia and Nonsensory are both good games, but they're not as well-polished as the other two games. Roomerang is a bit of a mixed bag. It's a fun game, but it can be a bit frustrating at times.

The Jackbox Party Pack 9 is a great addition to the series, and it offers a variety of games that are sure to appeal to a wide range of players. The games are all easy to learn and play, and they're a lot of fun to play with friends and family.

Some of the highlights of the game include:

  • The new games are all very creative and well-designed.

  • The games are easy to learn and play, even for people who aren't familiar with the series.

  • The games are a lot of fun to play with friends and family.

Overall, the Jackbox Party Pack 9 is a great addition to the series, and it's a must-have for anyone who enjoys party games.

Here are some of the pros and cons of the game:

Pros:

  • Variety of games

  • Easy to learn and play

  • Fun to play with friends and family

  • Great for all ages

Cons:

  • Some games may be too simple for some players

  • Some games may be too reliant on luck

The Jackbox Party Pack 9 is a great addition to the series. Whilst it isn't the best addition to the series and I am honestly not a fan of the game repeats (looking at you here Fibbage 4, even though you are probably the best game on offer here!), but the whole package is wrapped up in a great visual presentation style and for the most part the games are highly enjoyable. You would think after nine releases that Jackbox would be losing steam, but honestly this release is just as fun as many of the others before it and will have a regular spot in our game night lineup!

TOTAL SCORE: 8/10

The Jackbox Party Pack 9 was released onto the Xbox store on the 20th October 2022. The game is playable on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles. Priced at £24.99 it can be purchased HERE.

A copy of the game was provided for this review. A huge thanks for that!
