Still Reigning Supreme – Kiwi Design’s H4 Boost & G4 Pro Review

Hey, gaming enthusiasts! I'm Lewis, and welcome to another XPN Gaming review! Kiwi Design, a company that knows what VR enthusiasts want and has been my go-to brand for anything VR for Meta and recently PSVR2!
They are hailed as one of the best in the industry, earning the name from me as the Kings and Queens of VR Accessories! Once again, Kiwi Design have taken yet another innovative step forward with two of their newest products that not only make using your VR more comfortable but also assist you in powering through without the panic of it shutting down after a long gaming session. Before I take you through a thorough review of what’s new at Kiwi Design, which is my first time covering their products here at XPN, be ready to see something that could probably give your Meta Quest 3/3S the upgrade it needs. Put on your headsets and step foot into a new, improved world with me!
Who is Kiwi Design?
Kiwi Design is a company I was introduced to back in October 2023, after covering one of their earlier products, but I was astounded by the power and performance I saw with their products. So, who is Kiwi Design? You are probably wondering. Kiwi Design is a brand that has been shaping the VR Scene since 2015. With over 100 patents and a truly impressive product line-up, Kiwi Design has become a driving force in the industry. They’ve even partnered with Meta and are actively involved in the MFM (Made for Meta) program, a testament to their commitment to quality and innovation.
What really fuels Kiwi Design is feedback from people like us. They’re passionate about creating products and accessories that excite and engage VR users and gamers around the world. You can count on them for the long haul. Kiwi Design is dedicated to delivering top-tier products with a thoughtful, tempered design that enhances the most unique and immersive user experiences.
First Impressions
One thing I have also admired about Kiwi Design is that when it comes to delivering their products, they always go above and beyond, making sure they arrive without any issues or damage. I know I can speak for myself that nothing is more frustrating than receiving a parcel that looks like it went 10 rounds in a boxing ring with Mike Tyson. The hassle of hoping whatever you have ordered is still in one piece is completely removed, proving Kiwi Design are professional in the same aspect. My package turned up without a dent in sight, wrapped up and in perfect condition. This is one of the first reasons Kiwi Design has earned my trust as a client.
The box design features a sleek design with a clear image of the product's name and image, so you are aware of what to expect when opening the box. Now, the boxes Kiwi Design use are a durable, high-quality cardboard that opens up and offers solid protection. Inside, you will find gently placed modelled trays which keep the product firmly secure.
Inside the boxes also comes a quick start guide or user manual on how to install or use your product, plus a warranty guide.
As always, I was impressed with how everything was packaged, easy to remove, and dispose of.
Now, when it comes to installation, both products were refreshingly simple to set up. Out of all the head straps Kiwi Design has released, the H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap stands out as the easiest to remove, thanks to the quick-release piece that lets you take it off at any time without any hassle. Attaching it to my Meta Quest 3 was quick and intuitive — I didn’t even need to reference the instructions.
The G4 Pro Performance Grips were just as straightforward. Fitting them onto my controllers was a breeze, especially since I already had a pair of Kiwi Design battery covers from my previous grip set. Even if you’re starting from scratch, the process is easy, and swapping out batteries has never been simpler — just lift the silicone flap, pop the battery out, and you’re good to go. It’s small details like this that really show Kiwi Design’s attention to convenience.
Design and Build The H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap
The H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap is built with a strong Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, also known as (ABS Plastic). This is a strong thermoplastic amorphous polymer which is known for its durability and strength. This strong plastic not only stops you from damaging your Meta Quest 3/3S but also gives you more for your money, adding both toughness and impact resistance.
To support the back of your head for those long play sessions, and of course, introducing the Revolutionary Ventilation System Joeypad, which gives you an adaptive headrest, both made using Memory Foam Padding and PU Leather. improving your comfort no matter how long you play.
To make sure your H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap fits and feels right for you, it uses Elastic/Flexible Straps for perfect adjustability and head support. And lastly, the Battery Strap uses a 5300mAh/20.4Wh battery, adding more time to your experience.
The G4 Pro Performance Controller Grips
The G4 Pro Performance Controller Grips use a Textured Silicone Rubber for the outer grip sleeves, offering sweat resistance and anti-slip control, something we all have a fear of when playing intensely in some games.
The Straps use an Elastic Nylon/Velcro Strap, giving complete control and security when holding your controllers, making it the perfect fit for you. Lastly, the Battery Covers use the same ABS Plastic again, lightweight and durable for protecting the battery compartment.
Design and Comfort The H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap
As many can agree with the Meta Quest 3 Official Elite Strap is far from comfortable, especially if you’re like me and need to spend a lot of hours on a Meta Quest covering upcoming games — so this is when I need something more long term than something I can only handle wearing for short periods. The halo-style design distributes the Meta’s weight more evenly around my head, removing the all-familiar front-heavy strain.
The H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap removes all face pressure with the cushioned padding at both the front and back, adding plushness and a breathable session whilst I play, featuring a Cooling Pad, which is not included in other Kiwi Design straps like the K4 Boost Battery and Comfort Strap. Now, for some games, I will need to spin in a 360 motion, especially for intense action sequences.
During these sessions, the head strap stayed securely strapped to my head, without that tight and crushing feeling. It’s fully adjustable at a moment’s notice, just by using the dial on the back of the Battery Strap, so even if I felt it needed a bit of adjustment, it was fast and gave me the snug fit I needed — At some points, I even forgot I was wearing the Head Strap. One aspect I love about the Halo Design is the way it lifts it slightly off your face and redistributes the load in a way, like I said, as if you were barely wearing one at all.
This design also ensures continuous comfort with 360-degree airflow. I was even able to test how it felt lying down, because sometimes you might not be interested in playing games and looking for a more immersive movie experience, this is possible due to the integrated adjustable knob, just try not to fall asleep in it!
The H4 Boost Halo Battery Head Strap also includes a smart way of adding to the comfort with the damping slider, which allows you to adjust the Head Strap’s front-to-back position to fine-tune your field of view (FOV).
One of the standout features of the H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap is its built-in 5300mAh battery, which delivers a significant boost to your Meta Quest 3’s playtime. The battery gave me an extra 3 HOURS of additional battery life, giving me the freedom to play longer without the stress of having to plug in a wire to keep going. Just plug the adapter into the charging port and get back into the action!
The Battery Strap also comes with Dual Fast Charging, allowing you to charge both the Meta Quest 3/3S and the battery on the strap in just 2.5 HOURS with a 45W adapter, so whilst you play you can deliver 25W power to your Meta Quest 3/3S while charging the internal battery adding more to your uninterrupted playtime!
The G4 Pro Performance Controller Grips
The G4 Pro Controller Grips are a clear upgrade in both form and function. Crafted with Textured Rubber and Anti-Slip Silicone, this completely boosts grip and control — especially if you are swinging around in a game and breaking a sweat, the last thing you want is your controller slipping out of your hands and smashing the beautiful 4K TV you own!
The material is soft but secure and doesn’t affect or compromise responsiveness and tracking.
Comfort is very important, and just being able to hold the grips isn’t enough; you need something to be able to keep them more securely fastened! But hold your horses, my friends, Kiwi Design have thought ahead and used adjustable knuckle straps.
Made entirely flexible, breathable and uses a strong Velcro to keep your controllers fastened. You can also loosen and tighten depending on the size of your hands, or if you just want to put them down for a moment, this is made all possible by Kiwi Design.
Final Thoughts
Once again, the Kings and Queens at Kiwi Design continue to impress me with their new and upcoming designs and ways to make not just my VR experience better, but thousands of people around the world.
They show exactly how much they care when it comes to delivering an innovative way to make VR sessions 100 times better. Not only will I have more time to cover more upcoming VR games on my Meta Quest 3 for reviews, but I will be able to do it entirely in comfort and performance.
No more waiting for my battery to charge, pure uninterrupted gaming! Now, guys, can you understand why I gave Kiwi Design the nickname “The Kings and Queens of VR Accessories”? Because there is not a single brand out there that can create what they can or improve and innovate in a way that puts the needs of VR users first!
Personally, I would love to see more done with the PSVR2, from grips to other amazing accessories, but who knows what Kiwi Design has cooking or even up their sleeves? But that will be another review for another day; until then, Kiwi Design still holds the crown that rightfully belongs to them!
