Malmö, Sweden, May 17, 2022 – On Tuesday, May 17, the Nordic Game Conference 2022 will finally open its doors. After two years without an on-site event, the organizers are now welcoming visitors back to the historic Slagthuset. Thanks to the hybrid concept, all those who cannot come to Malmö directly will once again have the opportunity to follow the conference online. Visitors on site can look forward to expanded exhibition halls, new conference areas, outdoor facilities and, above all, a spectacular program with renowned speakers from the industry.
On May 17, NG22 Spring will kick off online with the Nordic Game Developer Showcase on the official Discord channel, where developers will have the opportunity to present their games virtually. On Wednesday, May 18, Nordic Game Managing Director Erik Robertson will officially welcome visitors onsite in Malmö and online to NG22 Spring.
Speakers galore!
The speaker line-up is once again impressive: More than 130 speakers will share their knowledge and answer questions at NG22 Spring. They will be available on stage at Slagthuset as well as on the Nordic Game Discord server. It is even possible to interact with the speakers online during the live stream.
The line-up features a lot of big names from the video game industry: Among others, Ilari Kuittinen, Studio Head of Housemarque (Returnal, RESOGUN), Soren Johnson, Founder & Design Director of Mohawk-Games (Old World), Cassia Curran, Founder of Curran Games Agency (consulting for indie developers) and Naya Amjadi, Cloud Advisor at Google for Games will be joining this year.
The full NG22 Spring online schedule can be found here, including the latest announcement, the Nordic Game Conversation between David Bowman (Studio Development Director at Creative Assembly) and Christopher Schmitz (COO Remedy) titled "Build Great Teams to Build Great Games."
Networking at the limit
NG22 Spring will, of course, once again be all about making contacts or re-establishing them after two years of pandemic. Through the MeetToMatch system, visitors can once again easily arrange business meetings, both online and on-site. MeetToMatch has its own meeting place at Slagthuset, which can be used from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 18 and 19, and from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 20. A new feature at NG22 Spring is that the Developer Showcase Hall will be open on all three conference days (May 18 to 20) – so there are game-intensive days ahead.
Always a highlight: The Nordic Game Awards
Of course, the Nordic Game Awards can’t be absent at NG22 Spring. The show will take place on May 19 and will be hosted by Marie Mejerwall. Once again, the best studios in the region will be honored there for the outstanding games they have released in the past year. This year's nominees include big hitters like IO Interactive's Hitman 3, Hazelight's It Takes Two and Iron Gate Studio's Valheim. The complete list of nominees is available on this site.
The organizers are looking forward to a terrific NG22 Spring and to finally welcoming visitors back on site. Welcome back to Nordic Game!
